Too Much to Resist

Maybe it was the idea of using up all those little leftover balls of yarn...

I knew I was saving these for a reason.

Maybe it was the tools...

Ooh! Shiny! Pretty colors!

Definitely, it was partly Nona's doing. I could no longer resist the siren call of the crochet.

Now what do I do with all those ends?

Because, really, who doesn't need another craft to practice?

Today's Link-o-Rama!

- See the Ur-Ripples here at Posie Gets Cozy. Alicia started the craze!
- Miss Periwinkle has made two exceptionally lovely blankets: a Ripple and a Vintage Stripe.
- There's also a Ripple-Along and Bella Dia has a great tutorial for the Vintage Stripes.
- See even more Ripples and Vintage Stripes at their respective Flickr pools!
- And, to end on a knitting note, Margene has a great post today about the endless allure of sock knitting.

Hmm, I've been able to resist picking up that crochet hook for a while, but perhaps I should just give in...?

Nice! I love all the colorful scrap-ghans popping up everywhere.

If you want, you can crochet those ends in as you go along. I just lay the ends on top of the stitches and crochet over the whole thing. And as long as the stitches are fairly tight/dense, I never see the old color poking through.

Ruh-roh. I hear the siren calling...but I don't need another craft! You could trim the ends short for fringe and have a nice coaster (your piece looks coaster-sized).

OMG! Are you crocheting? I don't even know you anymore!

Seriously, the swatch looks great! Can't wait to see it in person.

No! I've been resisting for so long, but all those lovely links are really tempting me to pick up a hook.

Heh, another craft! Crochet is a useful craft for knitters...makes nice edgings especially for those rolling pesky st. edges.

Oh! I must avert my eyes... crochet has tried to insert itself into my craft world several times, and I don't have enough time to knit already!!! No time for you, Mr. Crochet!

But that swatch does look really cool....

I too have been hearing the call. In fact, I picked up a few crochet hooks in a thrift store the other day, and now I keep glancing at them, wondering if I dare....

Now that I've gone through your links, I wonder how I'll continue to resist. Thanks (or not?!) for posting them :)

BTW: the entrelac is beautiful.

Can you tell us something about the knitting stitches in that book? I understand that it has crochet patterns on one page and knitting patterns on the opposite page, but I can only find pictures of the crochet patterns on the Web. Perhaps this should tell me something about the knitting patterns but I'd just like to check :) Thanx.

crochet over your ends immediately, or weave in your ends after a session.

I often wonder which temptation is going to get me first: spinning, dyeing, or crocheting (or possibly other related fiber activities I'm forgetting). For now, though, I'm ignorant on all of them and have no suggestions for what you should do with those ends. :)

Dude. One word: Fringe. Tie some little knots, and let all those ends flap free.

Or get super-Zen and weave them all in. Either way, it's looking good.

Way to use up those scraps.

i'm with pamela -- you crochet those ends in as you go along. and you totally don't see them.

OOOoooh! That's a lot of loose ends... I've been known to delay project completion due to too many ends to weave in...
But all those colors, and those tools, well it all looks like a little too much fun!
Happy knitting (and crocheting),

You should checkout the ripples at yarnstorm. They are gorgeous. http://yarnstorm.blogs.com/knitblog/crochet/index.html

I love the idea but I don't have that much time or that much spare yarn!
