Laura and the Excellent, Wonderful, Super Terrific, Very Good Day

It started out with seeing this in the newspaper...

Both of the videos that I wanted were at the library, where I checked them out for free.

The cashier at the grocery store thought about carding me. (You don't look older than 30!)

It was also a good day for iced tea...

...and 80s nostalgia music... Sooner or later, your legs give way and hit the ground ... Making mistakes is a part of life's imperfections, born of the years, is it so wrong to be human after all ... What you will and what you won't, what you do and what you don't, what you can and what you can't ... How does it feel, to treat me like you do, When you've laid your hands upon me, and told me who you are ... Shiver and say the words of every lie you've heard, first I'm gonna make it, then I'm gonna break it till it falls apart, hating all the faking, and shaking while I'm breaking your brittle heart...

and driveway art...

... and getting out the flip flops.

Could the fact that I wore my favorite blouse have anything to do with it?

I want to share the happiness! There are five songs in the 80s nostalgia paragraph. Identify the names of the songs and the artists and leave your guess in the comments by midnight on Sunday, April 23. I will give a skein of Vesper sock yarn in AquaMelon to one person chosen at random from the correct guesses!

1st one is Save it For Later by The English Beat (which I knew because they are one of THE BEST BANDS EVER!)

2nd one is Level 42 - Something About You which was HUGE the first time I went to England and I couldn't escape from it anywhere I went.

3rd one I admit I didn't know until I looked at the other comments. Then I realized why I didn't know it. I hated/still hate that song. So I probably dove for the channel changer the second I heard it come on the radio! :)

4th one is Blue Monday by New Order (and now I will have that song stuck in my head all day!)

Last one is Bring On the Dancing Horses by Echo and the Bunnymen.

Wow, that DOES sound like a great day!

I have no idea about the music, though. Even though I was in high school and college during most of the 1980s, I spent most of my time listening to the Beatles (grin). At least I've heard OF Echo and the Bunnymen . . .

Have to admit that I only recognised the last three
3. Trio - Dadada (Du liebst mich nicht , ich lieb dich nicht... ;-))
4. New Order - Blue Monday
5. Echo & the Bunnymen - Bring on the dancing horses
With a little help I found out about the others as well.
1. Harvey Danger - Save it for later
2. Level 42 - Something about you (of course!! I have even been at a concert with them - won the tickets - and it took months to recover from the cheesy show with self-illuminated E-guitars!)
Everybody said it already, so specially with knowing only 3/5 I am not sure if I qualify for the delicious Vesper yarn. Anyway, it was delightful to learn about your wonderful day! Hope you have many more of this sort.

Ok, so being a 90's girl myself, I didn't recognize most of those songs -- however! I do know that one is Blue Monday, but I only know that because Orgy did a cover of in the 90's :o) I've heard the original, but I don't know who it is and I like the cover better ;-)

(Actually, I spent the 80's locked in a closet, eating flat foods that could be slid under the door, like pancakes, and pizza ;-P)
