Second Son ... Second Sweater
Pattern: Seamless Raglan Sweater by Elizabeth Zimmermann in Knitting Without Tears
Yarn: Plymouth Encore Worsted, color 9621 (I think), less than 2 skeins
Needles: Knit Picks Options circulars size US 8
Chest size: About 26 inches
Thoughts: I may be a little addicted to stockinette in the round right now. Both the studying and the knitting go faster together. One happy surprise about this sweater was how little yarn it took. I really thought I'd be pushing it to make a sweater for a 4-year-old with only two skeins of yarn (about 400 yards). But I actually had about a third of the skein left.
Once again, I found the EZ percentages to work out fine for a child's sweater. I did take her advice (both for this sweater and S's) to knit the sleeves straight. I cast on one-third of the body stitches for the sleeves and did no increasing at all.
As I mentioned before, I'm planning my next Zimmermann sweater already. It will be in Cotton-Ease for my nephew who lives in California.
I finished that first SWS sock. And, once I saw all the colors in the skein, I decided it's definitely not hideous.

Awww! It looks like he likes it too!
aww, so cute!
What a cute sweater! Isn't amazing that reading and stockinette work together so well?
Aah, so cute. EZ has the right idea. My ribby cardi sits in 5 pieces waiting to be seamed. Very cute photo.
What a sweetheart! Love the sweater.
He looks pretty proud of his new sweater! So cute.
how cute is he?! and the sweater is pretty cute too.
He's just as cute as the first son! (Nice sweater too!)
I am definitely adding that book to my wish list. He looks so cute in the photos.
Adorable! You always have such a good eye for color.
Cute! And here I am buying 400 yards of yarn for newborns... I think there needs to be some adjustments in my knitting...
J looks great in his sweater. I guess he decided he likes it. Yay!!
Very cute!
Are you pleased with the result of the straight sleeves? Just about every kid sweater pattern I've ever knit calls for shaping on the sleeves, and then I saw that EZ considers it unnecessary and was skeptical. It looks good in your photos as far as I can tell, though!
Cute kid AND sweater! Love the color.
I am currently making the Central Park Hoodie with Encore Worsted. Every time I see one of your sweaters, I pick it back up and keep knitting. Your work is beautiful and your sons are so lucky to receive such wonderful sweaters. I really need to get some of EZ's books, a knitter without them isn't worth too much.
Great Sweater! You gotta show us the socks.

So, so sweet! I love the sweater, and it looks adorable on him. It's totally time to make my little guy a sweater.
Great color! And adorable all around.
I'm trying to resist new things right now, but you and your sweet sons are really making this EZ thing compelling.
So cute!!!
I'm sure they will be wearing their sweaters alot with this insane cold we've been having!
Your boys are too cute!
Perfect fit, positively adorable! I can't believe you cranked that out so fast.
What a cutie pie! The purple in that sweater is delicious too.
You have very charming children!!
The sweaters are just wonderful. :)
That is a fantastic sweater. The more finished Zimmermans I see, the more eager I am to order that book!
Love the sweater! I have my own 4 yo son who would look great in one of these sweaters. Must put it on the to do list.
Those boys are so cute, they're nearly edible! The sweater is perfect, too!
