SKB-in-Progress

After days of nearly unending gloom, it's finally a nice day to take pictures.

Voici, the progress on the Simple Knitted Bodice. I really am enjoying this pattern; it's fun to knit garments from the top down. I love seeing the sweater come together as a whole as I knit. I love the fact that I will have precious little finishing to do once I knit the sleeves. But, most of all, after my last disaster, I love that I know what it will look like before I'm done. I've tried it on twice and, while it could be a tiny bit smaller, I think it will look great. The deep v-neck will require a cami or similar underneath anyhow. And I should have no problem finishing it before seeing Colin.

The yarn is lovely ... Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool. Other than that strange silk smell and rather a lot of vegetable matter, nothing detracts from its rustic beauty. It looks fabulous on the lace panel. In fact, I am already dreaming of a shawl (maybe Swallowtail?) in Silky Wool.

Looking good! And ohhhh silky wool, I love it. I have a sweater's-worth in the stash waiting for a good project. Your shawl idea is a great one, I'm pretty sure I've seen one done but I can't remember where...

Hey, call me crazy, but I love that silk smell so much that when I walk into Banana Republic I head for the nearest pile of neatly folded silk twinsets and bury my head in them. Salespeople think I'm nuts.

I just freaking adore that color. So jealous!

I love Silky Wool - it's one of my top favorite yarns of all time. I think I have it in every color in my stash! I did a shawl - the Leaf Lace Shawl - in Siolky Wool and it's really pretty. If I could get over my fear of blocking I could show it to you!

That's lovely. The red will be wonderful on you! I love Silky Wool - I never thought of it for a shawl or scarf. That would be divine.

I find the strange silk smell sort of goes away after washing, although it comes back whenever wet. Don't wear it in all that rain.

Your SKB is lovely! I love that silky wool - I'm currently knitting Eris with it, but I have a boring oatmeal color going on, not that beautiful red! Love it! (did I already say that...?) ;o)

I love Silky Wool too -- and it softens up and feels soooo nice after wet blocking - don't be afraid, Stephanie, block it!

Gorgeous yarn! I've really wanted to try silky wool.

I'm glad that we seem to be later on the Yarn Abroad swap--I have some wonderful chocolate I'd love to send. It was fun to find some sock yarn for you.
